Why Jonah has run away?

Jonah 1:1-17

Why Jonah has run away? Why? Why? Why?

This is more than a story of a man that disobeyed the order of God …

It is a story of many people that live today.

Ps. 139:16

It is the second turning point for every man – we have been created by God and for His purpose – 1 Cor. 8:6

First one – is the turning point of our repentance – the moment, when we come to the Lord and acknowledge our sins and mistakes.

But, there is second point that every man will come to – it is the point of JONAH.

Point, when me and you we’ll have to make a decision – what am I living for?

We all need to live in God’s presence, because His presence delivers, heals, comforts, encourages etc.

But, life in His presence you’ll also come to the point of Jonah – the point when God will ask you to lay your life down for Him and do something you have been created for …

And we will have to make our decision – either like Jonah – to run away and trap into the womb of a big fish … OR … to do like Jesus – Luke 22:42

Jonah has run away from God’s face and God’s will about him. He wanted to be with God, but he didn’t want consequences.

If want to live in God’s presence we have to be ready for His revelations – that will tell us something that we don’t like or something that is much more than our own abilities.

You will have to make choice between your desires, your values, your daily duties, your own principles, your own expectations etc and His desires, principles, duties, values, expectations.

You’ll come to the point when you’ll have to cross the line, otherwise you’ll have to run away from His presence and hide at the church from His will!!! But the fish will wait for you outside the church walls!

Look at other examples of the Bible: Moses, Gedeon, David etc.

All of these they passed the point of Jonah in the right direction – they followed after God’s will and made what they have been created for.

Are you running away today from God’s face o you are ready to cross the point of Jonah?
